Dynamics 365 Blog Tips (From Blogger Vets)

Dad joke up front (I know my audience): Why don’t skeletons fight each other? They don’t have the guts!

I recently started blogging and it's been fun so far. Yes, I'm technically in week one still, so take the fun part with a grain of salt. I'll let you know how I'm doing on week one hundred and one.

I still haven't figured out my cadence yet, I'm thinking three times a week, but what topics would I cover three times per week to keep that kind of momentum up? What do the people (yes, you guys) want to read about? I want to write about stuff I see that is interesting and things that y'all (insert Texan joke here) want to read about.

In the past, I found my inspiration by jotting down what I googled that week and noting if I found great answers right away. This approach is handy, especially when deciding on conference topics.

We often shy away from simple topics, thinking they won’t attract a crowd, but those usually end up being the best. So, I’ve convinced myself that covering the basics here on the blog is a good idea.

Oh yeah, let’s get into some tips I’ve gathered about updating a Dynamics 365 blog and blogging in general.

  • Spell out Dynamics 365: Always use the full name.

  • Avoid abbreviations: Don't refer to it as D365 or F&O. Stick with Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations.

  • Use hashtags: This helps in reaching a broader audience. I was given some really good ones, I would check down below or one of my LinkedIn posts.

  • Bold UI/UX elements: Make your step-by-step guides easier to follow by highlighting what readers need to click on.

  • Add screenshots: Visuals can make complex processes clearer.

  • Include alt text: This ensures accessibility for all readers.

  • Share Personal Stories: If you've ever worked with me, this is also known as "Beau's monologue".

  • Proofread: Always double-check your posts for spelling and grammar errors. I would consider this optional, but worth noting here.

  • Link to Related Content: Include links to your previous posts or other relevant resources to provide additional value.

  • Promote Your Posts: Share your blog posts on social media / LinkedIn.

Catch you next time!
